Some Prompts to Get You Writing Over the Holidays, Part 1

So, I wrote and published my first book a couple weeks ago and I’m still heavy in the marketing/promotion phase of that 😰. I definitely plan to sleep, catch up on movies and TV, and tackle some of my 10 before the end (if you’re on Bookstagram or BookTok, you know what I’m talking about 😉) during Thanksgiving break.

And so because of this, I figured I could share some writing prompts to inspire someone to write over the holidays since I’m in a reading mood right now 😌.

Check out the writing prompts I came up with below! I hope they kick that creative brain of yours into high gear, especially if you’ve been in a slump 💪🏾:

🟠 Write a story around your favorite color. The color could be prominently featured or it has powers. Or everyone wears it for a strange reason, etc. (My favorite color is orange, if you couldn’t tell 😊)

🏫 Set your story on a college campus in the fall.

🤔 Write a story where the main character is so self-aware and something unexpected happens because of it.

🗨️ What happens when a group chat meet up for the first time? Tell that story.

💡 Something positive occurs during a blackout. Blackout could be an economic one (like the one I’m participating in Nov 25-Dec 2) or a literal power outage, etc.

✨ Write a story or poem using the following words and vibes: launch, soft, and dawn.

🤩 What’s the biggest thing you want in 2026? Write something like you already have it. *This would be a fire visualization journal entry that I may do myself. . .
